报道中的“power politics”是固定搭配，指“经济或军事强国在国际交往中所使用的‘威胁’性外交手段”，也就是我们汉语中的“强权政治”或“强权外交”。看例句：Hegemonies and power politics continue to be the main source of threat to world peace and stability².（霸权主义和强权政治仍然是威胁世界和平与稳定的主要根源。）

值得一提的是，power politics做主语时，谓语动词单复数均可，不过更常用单数形式。
