A FIELD VIEW
WANG JI

At dusk with eastern shore in view,

I stroll but know not where to go.

Tree on tree tinted¹ with autumn hue²,

Hill on hill steeped in sunset glow.

The shepherd drives his herd³ homebound;

The hunter loads his horse with game.

There is no connoisseur⁴ around;

I can but sing of hermits⁵' name.
