China's automobile² industry has reported lower-than-expected output and sales in the first seven months.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, both auto¹ production and sales have reported an 11.8 percent and 7.1 percent year-on-year decline in July alone.

This also marks the third consecutive³ month of decline.

The economic slowdown, industry competition and purchase quota⁴ policies in first-tier cities are said to be to blame for the contraction⁵.

Among all vehicles, the output and sales of commercial cars have dropped significantly by some 14 percent in the first seven months of this year.
