Chinese Internet giant Tencent has reported a 27 percent year on year jump in second-quarter profits on the back of strong income growth in the online gaming and advertising¹ sectors².

Tencent's second-quarter revenues have increased 19 percent to 23.4 billion yuan.

The sharp growth is being driven by a glut³ of new subscribers to the company's online video services, as well as a spike⁴ in revenues from mobile-based advertising.

Tencent says it currently has over 600-million people using WeChat.
