Latest data shows U.S. tech giant Apple recorded a decline in revenue in the second quarter of this year.

The company reported on Tuesday that its revenue in the period reached 42.36 billion U.S. dollars, down 15 percent year on year.

 

It was the second quarter in a row for the technology giant to see falling sales.

 

The report also showed its net income was 7.8 billion dollars, down 27 percent. The revenue from the greater China region was 8.85 billion dollars, down 33 percent year on year.

 

Among it all kinds of products, Apple sold 41 million iPhones, a 15-percent drop compared with the same quarter in 2015. It shipped 4.3 million Macs and 9.9 million iPads, both down around 10 percent.

 

On the other hand, China's smartphone maker¹ OPPO beat Apple to take the first spot in June with 22.9 percent of market share.

 

It's the first time that a domestic phone maker has won the race against Apple.
