Apple cut its revenue outlook for the latest quarter Wednesday, citing weaker-than-anticipated sales of iPhones in China.
苹果降低了2018第四季度的营收预期,称iPhone在中国的销售未达预期。
Apple shares slid some 7.6 percent in after-hours trade on the rare revenue warnings.
The company slashed1 its revenue guidance for the first fiscal2 quarter of 2019, ended December 29, to $84 billion -- sharply lower than analyst3 forecasts averaging $91 billion.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a letter to investors4 that the slowing sales are partly because of the trade frictions5 between the U.S. and China.
Cook said other factors will also pull down Apple's revenue, including the timing6 of its iPhone launches last year and a strong dollar that means lower revenues when converted to US currency.
Apple also cited supply "constraints7" for some products, including its latest Apple Watch and iPad Pro8.
The update suggested a disappointing figure for iPhone sales, the key driver of revenue and profit for the California tech giant.
"While Greater China and other emerging markets accounted for the vast majority of the year-over-year iPhone revenue decline, in some developed markets, iPhone upgrades also were not as strong as we thought they would be," the statement said.
