周一巴西副总统汉密尔顿·莫朗为中国华为技术公司参与建设巴西5G互联网网络的竞标辩护，称华为很适合这项工程

Brazilian Vice¹ President Hamilton Mourao on Monday defended Chinese technology company Huawei's participation² in the bidding process to build Brazil's 5G internet network, arguing that Huawei is well positioned for the task.

 

"Our legislation on participating in a bid is clear: no one can be prohibited," said Mourao, adding the only thing the company must do is to "demonstrate its transparency (in keeping) with the rules that will be established" for the process."

 

"Huawei has capacity above its competitors and we do not yet see U.S. companies capable of defeating international competition," Mourao said during a videoconference with foreign correspondents in Sao Paulo.

 

本月初，华为网络安全解决方案部门主管莫塔（Marcelo Motta）曾表示，如果巴西屈服于美国的压力而限制华为，那么该国部署5G网络的计划可能会延迟数年，并将面临更高的成本。

 

“In places where there have been restrictions³ on Huawei we have seen prices rise two to five times, often making business unfeasible for operators,” Motta said.

莫塔说：“在华为受到限制的地方，价格上涨了2到5倍，往往导致使运营商无法开展业务。”

 

He noted⁴ that Brazil already faced the challenge of expanding its existing infrastructure⁵. Changing the supplier would require carriers to replace equipment already installed instead of simply upgrading the existing ones.

他指出，巴西正面临着扩大现有基础设施的考验。更换供应商意味着运营商要更换已经安装的设备，而不仅是升级现有设备那么简单。

 

莫塔强调，美国指责华为的设备可能容易受到窃听没有依据（US accusations⁶ that Huawei’s gear could be vulnerable to Chinese eavesdropping⁷ are unfounded）。
