Chinanews, Beijing, March 27 - Domestic enterprises in China have contributed a better share than joint-venture and foreign-invested ones to charities in China.
Actually, charities in China depend greatly on the donations from enterprises. Statistics show that more than 90% of domestic enterprises have taken part in at least one charitable program. In the campaign against SARS in 2003, most donations were from domestic enterprises. Besides, most foreign-invested enterprises made donations on a mutual-beneficial basis, as "donation" has become part of their corporate1 culture to protect the core value of their brands. It is said that 88% of them have contributed to charitable programs for public relations or marketing2 purposes, while,79% of domestic enterprises made donations only to repay the society for its favor. Different cultures must be taken into consideration, too. Executives of domestic enterprises usually pay more attention to their responsibility as Chinese, thus they are naturally more charitable in China.
