Chinanews, Urumqi, Apr. 6 – There is an increasing demand for China-made automobiles1 are required in Central Asian countries. According to statistics from Urumqi customs, more and more Chinese automobiles are being exported to these countries.
It is reported that Baketu Port witness export of 153 automobiles in the first quarter of this year, while in the corresponding period of 2006 no automobiles had ever been exported from here. Statistics also reveal that there were more than 8,700 automobiles exported from Xinjiang’s ports in 2006, to the value of $160 million, twice as much as in 2006. Experts believe that people in Central Asian countries mainly use automobiles as their means of transportation, and their automobiles are mostly imported from China. In recent years more and more local people have discarded their old cars and bought new cars made in China.
