Chinanews, Beijing, July 2 – The Tongzhou district government in the eastern part of Beijing will allocate1 40 square kilometers to set up nine commercial zones. If the project comes true, it will be the largest commercial land construction project undertaken in Beijing this year.
The information was released at the 2007 Beijing Tongzhou Commercial Property Forum2 held last Friday, the Beijing Evening News reported. The nine commercial zones will include the following parts: The downtown area surrounding the Tongzhou Section of the Grand and Canal, covering 25.8 square kilometers will be a hub where super luxury hotels, a TV tower, an ecological3 park, a fashion street, an international sports stadium, an information center, and an exhibition center will be located. The commercial zone with an area of 700 hectares, which will be built as one of the best commercial zones in Beijing. When completed, it can create jobs for 60,000 people. The entertainment zone, which will contain a global film theme park. By combining hi-tech with entertainment, the theme park will be equipped with the latest technologies in the world. It will serve as an important pleasure ground in the northeastern part of Asia. The administrative4 zone, which will contain public service facilities such as an administrative service center, a cultural and leisure activity center, a school, an archives, and affiliated5 buildings. The medical and rehab center, which will be used to carry out large medical projects and medical researches, and offer rehab services and professional medical trainings. A property development center. Currently6, some large property projects are already under construction. One of these is the EraStar construction. Covering a total area of 175,000 square meters with a height of 288 meters, the EraStar building will be the largest and longest single commercial building in Asia. In future, the EraStar Shopping Mall, which covers an area of 300,000 square meters, will be built beside the commercial building. The Songzhuang art center, which will serve as a modern creative art center where art exchanges, exhibitions, and trade activities will be carried out. Also, education about art and scholar exchanges will also take place there. The first phase of the construction of the Songzhuang art and cartoon industry zone will be completed in 2008 and the whole project will be finished by 2011. By then, it will provide job opportunities for 14,000 people. The headquarters center of large companies around Beijing, Tianjin, and Tangshan. Some of the big companies will include the Beijing Publishing House Logistic Center, the Beijing Choice Furniture Modeling Center, the Liandong Industrial Zone, and the MacroLink Industrial Park. The Beijing Publishing House Logistic Center will start operation at the end of this year. After construction is completed, its transaction7 volume can reach 10 billion yuan every year with a sales revenue8 of 2 billion yuan.
