Chinanews, Beijing, Aug. 23 – According to Beijing Business News, in recent years urbanization has leapfrogged in China, and Xu Kuangdi, head of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said on Tuesday that the pace of urbanization will be further quickened until 2010.
Xu said that urbanization has been fast on the way in most of Chinese cities, but compared with coastal1 cities, there are few cities with a population of 2.5 million people in China’s western areas. Xu also believed the gap between the haves and have-nots, as well as between the eastern and western part in the country still exists. He said urbanization also means the need for towns people to improve their life quality.
