Aug. 24 - Beijing Local Taxation Bureau set up the time period for collecting the newly increased vehicle and ship taxes on Thursday.
The taxation was based on the Provisional Regulations of the People's Republic of China for Tax on Vehicles and Ships implemented2 on January 1st, 2007. But Beijing postponed3 the collection of the new tax to wait for relevant procedures to be finished.
From October 1st to December 31st, people can pay their vehicle and ship tax at the city's financial institutions, instead of the pre-planned method of paying tax via insurance institutions.
Taxes were raised for some types of vehicles, for instance, tax for small-sized car was raised from 200 yuan to 480 yuan per year.
The tax must be paid within this year.
Cars stolen, scrapped4, or destroyed can be exempted5.
According to Beijing Local Taxation Bureau, this year's vehicle and ship taxes won't be collected along with the compulsory6 traffic accident liability insurance for motor vehicles. |
