Chinanews, Beijing, October 10 – Since the end of the Afghanistan war in 2001, thousands of Chinese businesspeople have come to the country to seek their fortune out of great risks.

“In 2002, I saw on TV that Sun Yuxi, the Chinese ambassador, said that the reconstruction1 of Afghanistan would generate a great many opportunities, thus I decided2 to come here,” said Tang Linfu from Haining, Zhejiang Province. At present, Tang lives in Kabul, doing very good business.

Actually, most goods available in the Afghan market are imported from China.

At present, there are about 1,000 Chinese businesspeople in Afghanistan, most of them in the building and telecom industries. There are also a large number of department stores, restaurants and ads agencies run by Chinese.

As the reconstruction of Afghanistan is still in progress, there is great demand for architects. A private enterprise in Zhejiang Province has signed a number of contract on building several highways and the central block of Afghan Customs, all funded by the EU.
