Chinanews, Beijing, October 31 – “I have to queue several times to fill the tank of my truck to capacity, not to mention that there are always a long line of trucks queuing in front of me,” complained a truck driver. These days, one is only allowed to buy a limited amount of diesel1 oil at a time, usually no more than 50-yuan’s share.
According to a report by International Financial News, many trucks queue in front of gas stations in the Yangtze River Delta2 these days, especially the gas stations along expressways. Suburban3 Shanghai is said to have run out of 0# diesel oil for at least 10 days. The situation in Jiangsu, Hunan and Guangdong provinces is no better. Currently, more than 2,000 private-owned gas stations in south China have gone out of business due to oil shortage. Analysts4 suspect that it is the two major oil enterprises are behind it in their attempt to force the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to approve their request for another oil price hike.
