Chinanews, Guangzhou, Nov. 7 – According to Information Times, Guo Qing, head of Guangzhou Bureau of Forestry1, said during a television interview that restaurants that sell snakes will be fined 100 thousand yuan.
Guo said that before the SARS epidemic2 broke out, snakes could be sold in Guangzhou’s market, and many local citizens enjoyed making snake soup. But now in Guangzhou, selling snakes for food has been proclaimed illegal. The Bureau of Forestry will fight against this activity, and all snakes in the market will be taken over by the bureau.
