Chinanews, Urumqi, Nov. 7 – The Bianjiang Hotel in Urumqi, capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous1 Region, has received more and more tourists from abroad. As more merchants make profits in Xinjiang, the city has become a trading hub in China’s northwest.
Xinjiang borders on 8 nations, and the local government has promised to invest 2.3 billion yuan to improve its roads to Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. Currently2 Xinjiang’s trade volume with Central Asian countries has increased quickly in recent years. Xinjiang hopes to build more roads and railways as a way to improve its trade with the outside world. Xinjiang has also built several large enterprises3, hoping them to compete in the world market.
