Chinanews, Beijing, November 29 – Fushan Town in Shandong Province is now recognized as the No.1 gold producing town in China, and one of the villages under its jurisdiction1 is crowned as the top gold producing village.
Last year, the total output of gold in Fushan broke 25 tons, nearly the total monthly output of all other gold producing areas in China. It is estimated that a total output of 29 tons will be generated by Fushan this year. Due to the popular gold market, the output of many gold producing areas in China has greatly increased. Currently there are 40 large gold mines, each with an annual output of at least 1 ton, in China. The biggest of them can produce 10 tons of gold every year. The hot gold market has lasted for 6 years sonsecutively, attracting many investors2 to this field. China being the No.3 gold producer in the world, the gap between it and the US, the No.2, is being narrowed very fast. China might surpass the US very soon, as the total output of gold in China in the first 9 months of 2007 was 191 tons. Businesspeople in this field have got rich profit, too. For example, the No.1 gold producing village netted 100 million yuan last year, and its average income per capita broke 30,000 yuan.
