Sweden's Ericsson has won an auction1 for the wireless2 assets of bankrupt Canadian telecoms firm Nortel Networks. 瑞典爱立信成功竞拍到破产的加拿大无线电信企业Nortel的网络。 Nortel went into bankruptcy protection at the start of the year Ericsson is paying $1.13bn (£688m) for the businesses, which analysts5 say will enable it to substantially(实质上,本质上) increase its North American presence. 'Sad story' "An orderly disposal(处理,消除) of the assets of Nortel is the best outcome for the stakeholders," said Nortel official Richard Lowe. Telecoms analyst4 Jeff Kagan said the sale was "a sad story for Nortel, and a happy story for Ericsson". "Rather than competing with Nortel, Ericsson has won," he said.
