150 countries were surveyed for the report and examined people's health and access to health care, family relations, job security and social factors.

 

Theis Rud Lauesen, head of a local volunteer organization in Denmark, says their happiness comes from helping¹ each other.

 

"The thing about happiness is, in Denmark we care about each other and that is shown through our entire welfare system that we try to at least take care of each other, across all generations."

 

The report has been released ahead of United Nations World Happiness Day, which falls on March 20th.

 

Denmark is closely followed on the list by Switzerland, Iceland and Norway.
