China Central Television (CCTV) has been preparing for the 2017 Spring Festival Gala since April, and it is said to be the earliest preparation of the Gala ever.

An insider with CCTV told the Legal Evening News, CCTV has been selecting skits¹ and talk shows for the 2017 Spring Festival Gala program over the past two months, with those shows regarded as the most important for the Chinese audience.

 

CCTV usually starts preparations for the Gala in July or August, so this preparation is definitely considered the earliest yet.

 

The CCTV Spring Festival Gala, broadcast on the eve of the Lunar New Year since 1983, is an essential part of the holiday for many Chinese families. The annual TV show includes songs, dances, traditional opera, skits, talk shows, acrobatics² and martial³ arts.
