It's been announced comedian¹ and talk show host Jimmy Fallon will be the host of next year's Golden Globe Awards.

Fallon will be the front-man for the 3-hour ceremony, which is scheduled to air January 8th on NBC.

 

Fallon, a veteran of "Saturday Night Live," is currently the host of NBC's "Tonight Show."

 

In tapping Fallon, NBC says his playful humor is a good match for the "spontaneous and uninhibited" awards show.

 

Fallon takes over from last year's host, Ricky Gervais, whose biting style of humor left many in the audience squirming in their chairs.
