Chinanews, Beijing, August 21 – The Renmin University of China released the result of its general survey covering the presidents of 1,792 colleges and universities in China. The method and design of the survey was based on a similar survey conducted by the American Council of Education.
The survey has collected personal information of 1,000-plus college presidents, finding that their average age is 52, more than 90% of them being male Han Chinese. Some 32.2% of them have studied abroad, and 12.7% have received certificates issued by foreign educational institutions. Averagely the term of office of college presidents in China is 4.1 years. The survey also finds that nearly 48% of college presidents also work as higher officials in other colleges or universities, and the term of their concurrent1 post is 5.6 years.
