Chinanews, Beijing, February 7 – Many underground cults2 are spreading with other superstitious3 activities in some rural areas in western China, according to Outlook Weekly. Many farmers there are fond of donating money to build temples and joining these heretic sects4, which is a dangerous sign.
Obviously, the lack of proper entertainment and cultural life in the rural areas should be blamed for the rampage of evil cults, which might lead to severe social problems. It requires immediate5 action to regulate religions there, before it casts a shadow over the building of socialist6 new rural areas.
Li Yanning (not his real name), a journalist in Shaanxi Province, sneaked7 into the temple of “Material God”, an evil cult1. He found that the “Material God” had very bad effect on the general public's faith in the central government and socialist construction, not to mention that it robbed large amounts of money from its followers8.
“These cults put our country at great risks by damaging our values, and our traditional culture,” said Li.
