The Nepalese government has announced plans to waive¹ the visa fees for Chinese tourists entering the country.

尼泊尔政府宣布计划取消中国游客入境的签证费。

Chinese tourists travelling to the country will save around 200 yuan as part of the new agreement, which has been reached following meetings between Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.

The cost-cutting measures are set to be implemented² as of this Friday, January 1st.

At the same time, the Chinese government has lifted a travel warning it imposed on Nepal earlier this year.

Nepal is hoping to rebuild its tourism industry following a pair of devastating³ earthquakes which rocked the Himalayan country earlier this year.

China is the 2nd largest source of tourism to Nepal behind India.
