In an information security summit organized by Shunfeng Express in Shenzhen on Wednesday, the company proposed a solution to address lingering public concerns over information security in the delivery industry.
The encrypted express waybills will substitute all the key customer information, including names, phone numbers and addresses, with codes. The information will also be hidden from the staff members of the delivery company like the deliverymen and customer service staff who have direct access to them.
In 2012, Shunfeng Express launched a value-added service that can hide out parts of customers' information on the waybills like their first names, replacing them with asterisks1. Similar services were put forward this year by Yuantong Express and other delivery companies for free.
With the fast development of the Internet and the execution of real-name registrations2, customers' information in the delivery industry could be easily exposed to hackers3 and criminals.
To better protect customer privacy, Shunfeng Express founded a trans-industry security alliance during the Wednesday summit, along with Tencent Cloud, Vanke Service, Shentong Express, Yunda Express and VIP.com.
