The 11th Tea Exposition of Cross-Straits (TEC-S) is underway at the foot of Wuyi Mountain, southeast China's Fujian province.
第11届海峡两岸茶业博览会目前正在福建省武夷山脚下举行。
Around 6,000 buyers, along with major tea companies from both home and abroad, are attending the annual event this year, including potential buyers from India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and other parts of the world.
Tea competitions are the highlights of the TEC-S. Growers not only compete for the Best Quality Tea honors, but also exchange tea-making techniques, which enjoy a storied history in China. This year features competitors from the mainland and Taiwan competing for honors in eight separate categories.
Wuyi Mountain became enshrined on UNESCO's World Heritage lists, both natural and cultural, in 1999. It is famed for its oolong and red teas. Wuyi rock tea is the forefather1 of oolong tea.
