With the rapid expansion of China's delivery industry has come a rapid expansion in the production of waste, especially of packaging materials that are not biodegradable and can't be recycled.
随着中国快递产业的快速发展,快递垃圾的产量也在快速增长,尤其是不能降解不能循环利用的包装材料。
But government officials, enterprises, and experts have committed themselves to reducing the amount of waste generated by the delivery services industry. And several government ministries2 have worked together to develop guidelines for the development of environmentally-friendly packaging that requires fewer resources and produces less pollution.
Large e-commerce companies such as Suning and Jingdong have already introduced recyclable and bio-degradable packaging. And China Post has launched a "green post" campaign that aims at improving the environmental sustainability of its logistics services by 2020.
One of the major challenges that China's delivery industry has to address is the use of excess packaging. "Over packaging has something to do with how people handle the packages at delivery companies, so we think there should be a national standard on how it should be done," said Wang Yuezhong, the executive vice1 president of the Packaging Federation3 of China. Wang believes that the problem of excessive packaging is one of the most urgent issues that need to be addressed by the industry.
