Brits sweltering through the UK's longest heatwave since 1976 have taken to Twitter in a panic as they desperately¹ seek out fans to keep them cool.

The mercury² is set to soar³ to 33℃ recently, but those hoping for the relief of some cool air have been left frustrated⁴ with some complaining of entire towns across the country being sold out of fans.

 

One commenter reported that fans were completely sold out in Chelmsford; James Lund from Leeds said he couldn't find a fan for his grandmother, and a Lincoln resident also reported that shelves were bare.

 

Amazon.co.uk said it had seen a 2,100% month-on-month increase in sales of air cooling items such as fans and a 650% month-on-month rise on some swimming pools.
