A grand gala has been held in Zimbabwe to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Dragon dancing, a cheongsam show, Chinese zither playing, and of course, the indispensable Chinese cuisine¹.

 

The Gala held in the University of Zimbabwe to celebrate the Chinese New Year has gathered a thousand Chinese in Zimbabwe, giving them a taste of home and reminding them of the motherland.

 

Acting² Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhao Baogang says this is a time to review the past and look into the future.

 

Zhao says the past year has witnessed the huge progress in the development of bilateral³ relations between China and Zimbabwe.

 

"The China-Zimbabwe friendship entered a new era in 2018. The top leaders of the two countries held official talks twice. The bilateral relationship was elevated to the status of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership⁴ of Cooperation. A number of Chinese assisted projects in Zimbabwe were completed or launched. The relationship between China and Zimbabwe has become a banner of the relations between China and other African nations."

 

He calls on the Chinese community to make continuous efforts to promote bilateral ties.

 

The event has also attracted many local Zimbabweans.
