Cherry blossom（樱花） season is a widely anticipated（期待的） event in cities around the world, a sign that spring has arrived, an opportunity for people to get out and enjoy nature's matchless（无与伦比） beauty. Right now, no city is more deserving of that message of hope and renewal¹ than Wuhan, the domestic（国内的） epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, which was the first Chinese city  to be sealed off from the world as the virus began to spread. Two months later, the worst of the pandemic appears to have passed in the Chinese mainland. Therefore, the lifting of this 76-day lockdown imposed on the city today is not only a much-longed milestone²（里程碑） in China's fight against the virus, but of great significance for the world.
