Chinanews, Beijing, Jul. 6 – China's first report on casualties caused by traffic accidents was issued in Beijing on Wednesday. The report reveals that there have been fewer people killed in traffic accidents since 2002, but the number of traffic accident victims has increased in Zhejiang, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet.
The report points out that the increase of motor vehicles has made more people fall victim to traffic accidents. It also reveals that poor road conditions and drunk driving also trigger traffic accidents. The survey reveals that 100 thousand people have been killed annually1 since 2000, more of them being women aged2 between 16 and 45, and more than 60% of the victims being passengers, bikers and motorcyclists.
