Chinanews, Shanghai, July 6 - The first archives of “comfort women” (sex slaves of the Japanese troops in World War II) in China was build in Shanghai, the third one of its kind in the world, the previous two located in Seoul and Tokyo.
The archives collected many precious evidences of the crimes committed by the Japanese troops against the “comfort women”, including documents, condoms and disinfectants founded in the wartime brothels, and daily-use articles used by the “comfort women”. The opening ceremony of the archives was held on the morning of July 5, 2007. Three previous “comfort women” were invited. When Wan1 Aihua, one of them, who came from Shanxi, told her story at the ceremony, all the people present were deeply impressed by her courage. Though the building of the archives started only in last year, Su Zhiliang, the director of the Chinese Comforting Women Research Center, has been collecting related2 documents and artifacts since 1992.
