Chinanews, Beijing, July 31 – A recent survey shows that in China, more than 70% of the office workers have stomach troubles, with most being young and middle-aged1 people.
The survey was conducted by Life Times, covering about 10,000 people, most of them being white collars2, company managers, or public servants at the age of 20-40. The survey shows that 92.3% of the respondents have stomach problems for at least once. Among this group of people, 34.17% often suffer from stomachaches and 5.47% even have stomach problem everyday. From 1985 to 2007, the number of people that have stomach problems in the world has increased from 150 million to 500 million. In China, about 170 million people had stomach problems, according3 to information released4 in March 2006 by the World Health Management Union. 59.97% of the respondents attribute5 their stomachaches to irregular life habits, and 11.14% of them say they will have stomachaches if they work too hard. In addition, 5.73% of the respondents say their stomach problem is caused by too much overwork.
