Chinanews, Lanzhou, August 8 – According to a report by Lanzhou Morning Post, Lanzai, a giant panda in the Lanzhou Zoo, attacked its keeper on August 4. The breeder, who was bitten and scratched very badly in the leg and arm, now is still in hospital. Fortunately, his life is at no risk at present.
The newspaper reporter visited the Zoo that afternoon, finding1 Lanzai sit in the corner of the cell, and would not respond to anyone. “He must be very sorry,” joked a visitor. Lanbao, Lanzai’s brother, was lying quietly by the side of the pool, but looked as if he were angry with his brother for his violent act. Lanzai and Lanbao were gifts from Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding2 Center, for their mother, Shulan, once lived in Lanzhou. However, Lanzai has never got used to the climate in Lanzhou since he arrived there on last July 28. The keepers even bought bamboos from Chengdu to help them get over their homesickness. The keeper attacked by Lanzai was still not familiar with him, as they only met several days ago.
