Chinanews, Nanning, Sep 1 – In Bama, a small village in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous1 Region, about 30.98 out of every 100,000 people on average have lived for more than 100 years, which makes the village earn a reputation as a home for the longevity2 people in the world. Every year, about 200 old people from other places come to live in the village for a certain time in a year. Meanwhile, many merchants also come to the village every year. Over the next three years, about one billion yuan of capital will be invested in Bama to develop industries related with longevity, said Meng Jianjun, the village head on Thursday.
Guangxi Changsheng Health and Technology Co., Ltd has intended to invest 200 million yuan to build a vacation center on Cifu Lake near Bama. The vacation center will cover a total area of 5,000 mu, or about 3, 333, 333.5 square meters. . The center will contain an aquatic3 sports center, a vacation village and a rehab center. The program has been registered and authorized4. In the initial stage, Guangxi Changsheng Health and Technology Company has already invested 30 million yuan, Meng said. In future, Bama village will further develop some new products related with its mineral water resources, cooking oil and pigs. It is hoped that by 2010, Bama village will be built as China’s longevity food production center and a mineral water production center in Guangxi, Meng noted5. On September 19 to 23, an international forum6 on longevity will be held in Bama. Experts from the World Nature Medical Science Association and those from Japan, South Korea, the United States, Singapore and China will attend the forum. Experts will discuss what makes people in Bama enjoy a long life and how to develop the longevity industries there.
