Chinanews, Beijing, September 4 – According to a research jointly1 conducted by the Beijing Normal University, CCW Research and Baihe.com, the best age for marriage of Chinese men is 31, while Chinese women aged2 over 25 will have fewer and fewer chances of getting married.
The research covered more than 2 million respondents via direct interviews, questionnaires and online surveys. A similar research in 2006 showed that 90% of female respondents would like to marry men aged between 23 and 26, while only no more than 50% of them would think about dating men in their 30s. This year, the result turns out to be quite different, as 80% of female respondents favor men in their early 30s. However, most men like women in their 20s. According to 65% of male respondents, the best matrimonial age for women is 25, while respectively only 25.5% and 15.5% of male respondents said that they would marry women aged between 30 and 35. Apparently3, men have no need to worry about their age for marriage, as over 33% of female respondents would like to marry men aged 35, and 15.2% of them like men in their 40s. Though there are more males than females in China, it is still harder for urban women than for urban men to find a spouse4, particularly women in their 30s. “A young man of 25 can have girlfriends aged between 19 and 26, but it is not likely for a young women of 25 to start a romance with a boy of 18,” said Shang, an expert on marriage affairs in Beijing.
