Chinanews, Xining, Sept. 13 – In order to improve the ecological¹ environment of the three-river-sources, nearly 100 thousand farmers and herdspeople will have to move out of the source regions before 2010. The total investment of this project will reach 7.5 billion yuan.

The three-river-source refer to the Yellow River, the Yangtze River and the Lancang River. Several years of human activities made the regions seriously deteriorating² environmentally.

Li Xiaonan, an official of the Qinghai provincial³ government, said that some 6,000 Tibetans would have to give up their years’ long work of herdsmen as herdspeople in favor of new occupations. As a matter of fact, some of them and herdsmen have already found jobs in town.
