Chinanews, Beijing, October 11 – Several Beijing college students have finished a research on the life of beggars in the city, finding that most beggars there are from Minquan and Zhumadian of Henan Province, Huaibei of Anhui Province and Caoxian County of Shandong Province, particularly Minquan.   Most beggars in the Xuyuanlu, Wudaokou and Sitongqiao are professional beggars, who wear rags to earn the sympathy of passers-by. Near the Beijing Railway Station, there are a large group of “beggar kids”, who are said to beg for tuitions. Beggars near Qianmen are mostly people who came to Beijing to appeal to higher authorities for help.   Generally, a professional beggar in Beijing gets no more than 20 yuan a day. Occasionally the luck is in their way and they can get more than 100 yuan in a day.   Few beggars will go to hospitals when they are ill, although some of them might receive the help of rescue stations. They would rather send their money home, instead of spending it themselves.
