Chinanews, Shanghai, Oct 25 – In modern society, people make friends through online exchanges or face-to-face, short-time communication. On Tuesday, a sort of love wall appeared in six office buildings in Shanghai's Waitan (the Bund) area. This might emerge1 as a new form of modern communication, too. Working in offices, white collars hope that messages they leave on the wall might help them find their ideal2 marriage partners who might work next door.

“The ‘love wall’ is set inside the office building. If you meet someone in the workplace with whom you fall in love and yet you don't know how to contact him or her, you can leave a message on the love wall,” said the activity organizer.

In writing the “love message”, people can write down their contact information and their understanding about love. Then they can rest easy and wait for HIM or HER to appear, the organizer said.

In addition, all the single men and women who work in the same building can take a small, heart-shaped card on the scene and write down their contact information and their requirements for the other half on the card. The activity organizer suggested that the content written down on the love wall should not contain other people's private information. This is to avoid the possible embarrassment3 that might occur in future, the organizer said.

If a participant knows the contact information of the person he/she falls in love with, he/she can write down his/her love message and let the organizer pass it on to the person. All this will be done in a private manner and the organizer “will not disclose4 the message to a third person,” the organizer said.

Due to heavy work pressure, many office workers do not have much time to go dating. Although making friends in the same building might seem less exciting, on the other hand the success rate for this form of matchmaking is quite high, because people working in the same building tend to have relatively5 the same social background. Also, working in the same place might give the young people more opportunities to stay together and to get to know each other, the organizer said.
