China to build 3rd Eurasian Continental Bridge

Chinanews, Kunming, October 30 – According to the information from the Yunnan Provincial¹ Academy of Social Sciences, several experts will gather in Kunming on November 1 to discuss the feasibility of building the third “Eurasian Continental² Bridge”.

The third “Eurasian Continental Bridge” will start at the ports aong Guangdong coast, traveling through Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Europe, with Rotterdam as its destination. Its sub-branches will even extend to African. It will be 15,000-odd km long, 3,000 km shorter than the sea route via the Straits of Malacca.

The project will be based on the transasia-railway built under the cooperative mechanism³ of ASEAN-Mekong Basin development to link South and Southeast Asia, forming a complete railway network covering the whole continent that is accessible from both Europe and Africa.
