Chinanews, Taiyuan, Oct 31 – A fleet of 20 forklifts appeared at West Road Binhe in Taiyuan at noon last Sunday. The forklift fleet was formed to pick up a bride for her wedding ceremony. As most of the weddings are celebrated1 with the bride in a sedan, the forklift convoy2 caught many people's attention on the street, the Shanxi Evening News reported.

On that day, this reporter saw the forklifts moving slowly in the north direction. The forklifts were decorated with balloons and colorful ribbons. The bridegroom was sitting happily on a sofa that was placed on the first forklift at front, wearing a smile and holding a bunch of flowers in hand. The sofa was also wrapped with a piece of red cloth. Dressed in formal clothes, the bridegroom looked ahead, expecting the exciting moment to come. “I'm going to pick up my bride,” he told this reporter happily.

At 11:40, the fleet arrived at its destination, the bridge's home. Escorted3 by the crowds, the bridegroom went off the forklift and walked to the bride. The forklift fleet stopped by the roadside. Having not seen such a strange scene before, many residents living nearby walked towards the fleet and surrounded it.

“Young people today are so bold! How can one pick up the bride with a forklift?!” said an old man at the site. To many young people at the scene, however, the idea was quite special. It would be such an unforgettable wedding ceremony, they said.

A forklift driver told this reporter that they worked with a forklift leasing4 company. The bridegroom, Cheng Xueliang, who was born in Gujiao City, is also a forklift driver in the company. He has been driving forklifts for more than three years. He has been on very good terms with his colleagues. The bride is from Yunnan Province. Five years ago, she came to work in Taiyuan. The two people got to know each other three years ago. This year, they decided5 to get married. However, they couldn't afford to lease6 a fleet of cars from a wedding company.

At that time, someone proposed that since they all drove forklifts, why not use the company's forklifts to form the wedding fleet?! It would make the wedding so special and could also save a large sum of money. The drivers then told their boss about the idea. Of course, their boss approved the idea without hesitation7.
