A young lady tries a worm dish at a Yunnan-style restaurant in Beijing on November 1, 2007. "Worm dishes" are quite popular lately among white-collar girls in the city.
 
Chinanews, Beijing, Nov. 2 – A white collar Ms. Yang recently has become indulged in eating worms. Under her influence, many of her friends are proud of eating worms and of finding worm food in Beijing's restaurants.

 

Yang said the worms provided by a restaurant in Sanlitun were very delicious. “The environment there was very comfortable, and eating worms made me feel good,” she said. Yang also revealed that many beautiful fashion models had come to the restaurant eat worms.

 

Yang told our reporter that many young men of ethnic1 Hani minority sought for worms as food for their girlfriends to make them happy. “My boyfriend should do the same thing, too,” she said.

 

Experts said that many ethnic minorities in China prepare worm food only during their traditional festivals, like fried locusts2. Our reporter visited several Yunnan restaurants in Beijing, and found many of them had worm food in their menu.
