Chinanews, Guangzhou, Dec. 13 – The Dongguan Disease Prevention and Control Center in Guangdong on Monday carried out a survey that tried to find out migrant workers' knowledge about AIDS and their attitude towards AIDS. The investigation1 shows that none of the migrant workers accept one-night stand, while 20% of the people with college educational background take a liberal view of it. In addition, all migrant workers in the survey say “no” to premarital sex, while 40% of well-educated people say“yes” to it, the Yangcheng Evening News reported.
Researchers included a series of questions such as premarital sex, extramarital sex and one-night stand. The survey shows that 11.71% of the respondents approve premarital sex, with most of them being male. Illiterate2 people, people who have received primary school education and migrant workers do not accept premarital sex, while 11.88% and 12.45% of the people with senior high and junior high education respectively, and 40.0% of people with college education background accept premarital sex. Only 2.28% of the respondents accept extramarital sex, with many of them being men. People with little or no education do not accept extramarital sex at all and 20% of people with college educational background accept it. In addition, the report shows that 3.25% of men accept one-night stand, while 2.28% of the women hold a similar view. For illiterate people and people with primary school education, none of them approve one-night stand, while 20% of people with college education background accept it. Most people had one-night stand with their friends, colleagues or their fellow villagers ( the case being 66.67%), and some with strangers and their online friends (16.67%). For illiterate people, migrant workers and poorly educated people, their approval rate of one-night stand and extramarital sex is rather low, which shows that these people are very conservative in these respects. On the other hand, men tend to take a more liberal view of these issues than women, which might result from their different physical features or their different traditional views. In addition, compared with poorly educated people, people with high education take a more liberal view of these issues and this should be attributed to their different educational backgrounds.
