Chinanews, Beijing, December 13 – China is planning to change its national holidays in 2008, and the 7-day Labor1 Day holiday might be shortened. Thus the Chinese people are modifying their vacationing plans, and the travel agencies are also working on new package tour schemes.
A large number of Chinese urbanites wish to advance their overseas travel plan to the forthcoming Spring Festival (the Chinese Lunar New Year), and most major travel agencies in Shanghai reveal that they have received a lot of applications for package tours to Southeast Asia, Europe or Australia. So far, long-line package tours during the Spring-Festival holiday have become 20% more expensive. Travel agencies in Dalian, Liaoning Province have also worked out special plans for Spring Festival travels, including 100-plus domestic package tours and several overseas package tours to tropical countires. Travel agencies in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province also have dished out similar plans. As their might be fewer golden-week holidays, the long-line tours that cover several countries are no longer popular. Customers want to make the most of their holiday to thoroughly2 experience the culture and lifestyle of one single foreign country instead of visiting several countries in a short time and gaining a superficial understanding of them. Experts believe the changed vacation plan will make people travel according to the holidays of their own, and the quality of their travels will be improved, too.
