The results of a six-month investigation1 into the expense claims of the former home secretary Jacqui Smith are due to be published. 对英国前内政大臣Jacqui Smith经费说明进行的六个月的调查,其结果将要公布。 Jacqui Smith has been subject to an investigation into her expenses The investigation was carried out by the Parliamentary Commissioner2 for Standards, John Lyon. The BBC understands Ms Smith will face criticism for saying that her main home was in London rather than in her Redditch constituency(选区). But it also seems she will not be asked to pay back any expenses. The investigation's findings are to be published by the House of Commons Standards and Privileges committee. BBC political correspondent Iain Watson said Ms Smith called herself the poster girl of the expenses scandal. She had details of her expenses leaked early in the year, well ahead of the widespread revelations in the Daily Telegraph over MPs and their expense claims. Ms Smith claimed £22,948 in allowances for her second home in 2007-8, details of MPs' expenses showed, and £157,631 in total allowances. She suffered embarrassment3 when it was revealed she had mistakenly claimed for adult movies viewed by her husband. Ms Smith described the furore(轰动) about her expenses claims and pressure on her family as "horrible" and said her husband's claims for adult films had been "intensely embarrassing". Commissioner criticism But Mr Lyon has been investigating whether she was right to designate(指定,标示) the home she shares with her sister in London as her main home. This allowed her to claim generous allowances on her constituency home in Redditch in Worcestershire. The BBC understands the Standards Commissioner is likely to criticise4 that arrangement. He will accept Ms Smith did spend more time in London but that on balance the principal family home was in the constituency. In a previous interview with the BBC, Ms Smith said the rules until 2004 had been that ministers' main homes should be in London, and the rules also stated her "main home" should be the property where she spent the most nights. She said: "So I didn't, as some people have done and been criticised for, change the allocation at that point. "I stuck with what the rules had been before." 点击收听单词发音
