China's top smartphone maker1 Xiaomi is facing a temporary ban in India over patent infringement2, and the company says it is willing to resolve the matter amicably3.

Following a patent complaint from telecom company Ericsson, the New Delhi High Court has issued an injunction that prevents Xiaomi from importing and selling some of its smartphone models in India.
Ericsson has described Xiaomi's use of its Standard, Essential Patents as "unfair", and said its legal action is "a last resort" after Xiaomi failed to respond after more than three years of communication requests.
Xiaomi says it has not received an official note from the New Delhi High Court, but it is ready to open talks with Ericsson.
Xiaomi sold 19 million handsets in the third quarter of 2014, and became the largest smartphone maker in China, and the third largest in the world.
India is an important market in the company's overseas strategy.
In November, there were reports suggesting that Xiaomi had received warning letters from its rival Huawei and telecom company ZTE over patent infringement. But Xiaomi and Huawei both denied the reports.
