Two men have died and four people, including two children, have been injured in a high impact eight-vehicle smash in Sydney on Monday morning.

Seven cars and a truck were involved in the accident at 11 a.m. local time near the intersection¹ of Concord² Road at Rhodes in Sydney's inner west.

Police said they were investigating whether alcohol and speed were factors.

Police said debris³ was spread over a few hundred meters and the accident was "quite horrific".

"It was absolutely devastating⁴ ... it was obviously a high impact, which has left a large amount of debris and devastation⁵."
