Chinanews, Beijing, July 5 – The China Consumers' Association on Tuesday issued a report showing that in general, Chinese people give a low credibility rate to the property companies.
The China Consumers' Association carried out the survey with the aim of strengthening social supervision1 over the property market and helping2 the government to better regulate the market. Consumers' organizations in 12 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing, joined the China Consumers’ Association in doing the survey. Altogether they investigated 218 residential3 community centers.
The survey shows that Chinese people give a low mark of 59 to the credibility rate of the property industry, which is the lowest mark among all indexes. Also, most people do not give high marks to the credibility rate of the contents of the brochures issued by property developers in the pamphlets given to customers.
The survey shows that at present, most people in the middle income group take half of their family income to pay for the housing loans, a relatively4 high proportion. Some property developers intentionally5 delay the sales of their houses or hoard6 houses for higher profits. When customers want to buy their houses, customers are often given to understand that their houses are already sold out. Some property developers change the housing design at discretion7 or sell to customers the house with a smaller floor space than that specified8 in the contract. Some property developers give an incorrect description about their houses. All these constitute severe infringement9 upon the rights of consumers.
The China Consumers' Association urges related government to strengthen their supervision over the real estate market and severely10 punish the property developers for their irregularities.
