据《时代》周刊报道,哈佛大学将开设一门课程,名为“真实的《权力的游戏》:从现代神话到中世纪原型”(The Real Game of Thrones: From Modern Myths to Medieval Models)。这门课程将通过研究乔治·R·R·马丁的小说《冰与火之歌》及据此改编的HBO电视剧《权力的游戏》,来探讨该剧与中世纪真实历史之间的异同。
Harvard's medieval studies professors hope that the 100-level course can
leverage1 student interest in Game of Thrones into a greater interest in the humanities. As Time
noted2, student interest in this area of study has
waned3 in recent years, per an American Academy of Arts & Sciences study that reported an 8.7 percent decline in bachelor's degrees awarded in this subject area between 2012 and 2014.
UC Berkeley has offered multiple courses that draw inspiration from the series. In 2015, it offered a film studies course, "Film
Genre4: Game of Thrones" centered on the show's
theatrical5 themes.
And this summer, the school will offer a six-week course titled "The
Linguistics6 of Game of Thrones and the Art of Language Invention," taught by Dothraki creator David J. Peterson.
