The last three sections of the Beijing-Xinjiang expressway (G7) opened to public on Saturday, marking the completion of China's longest expressway.

 

北京-新疆G7高速最后三段周六向公众开放，这是中国最长的高速公路。

 

With a total length of 2768 kilometers, the highway links Beijing and Urumqi, the capital city of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous¹ Region. 

 

It will shorten the journey between the two cities by 1,300 kilometers.  

 

The Beijing-Xinjiang expressway is not only the world's longest desert expressway, but is a key project in China's "Belt & Road Initiative," which ties together 60 countries and regions in mutual² trade and cultural cooperation.
